It's A Girl

Jess, my good frind & scrapping bud, had a baby girl Paige Marie last friday 6/2/09. She is just the cutest little thing. We went to see them on Sunday & got a few cuddles in :)
They went home on Wednesday & are apparently going well & settling in at home.
Congratulations Jess, Gary & Jordan on your beautiful new bundle! Can't wait to see Jess scrapping lots of pics of Paige!

What I've Missed Most This Week

I have been home for just over a week now. I am so glad to be home with my family & friends, but I am also missing being in Kenya. Here are some of the things I've missed the most:

~The Gang! I really loved hanging out with the rest of the Aussie team & getting to know them all better. They are all really awesome, lovely people.

~ The beautiful weather. Australia is so hot at the moment! We had really nice weather in Kenya.

~ The yummy pineapples. Kenyan pineapples are so lovely & so sweet. They are so much nicer than Australian pineapples!

~ Makena's beautiful singing! We had an adorable two year old on our team who spent more time singing than I did. Can you believe that?!

~ Hearing reggae music wherever you go. I am a huge Bob Marley fan & loved hearing his music around a lot of the places we went.

~ The great devotions we had each day. They were really encouraging & even though I do my own devotion each morning, it's just not the same as having group devotions each day, where you can all encourage & support each other.

~ Hearing people say "Habari" (hello how are you), "Karibu" (welcome) & "Asante" (thankyou). I had gotten so used to hearing them everywhere!

~ Riding in a bus everywhere & not having to wear a seat belt!

~ Mandazis. They are like doughnuts, but not as sweet, but I think they are nicer than doughnuts.

~ Running by Kenyan time! Kenyans are so relaxed, so nothing ever ran to schedule!

New Friends

While we were in Kenya we spent a couple of days with Pastor William, who works in a slum area. He showed us around the schools he works at & we got to visit some homes.
Here are some pictures of the kids from the primary school. They are all so cute & loved having their photo taken!

This little boy was just adorable. He shook all our hands as we walked past him! Here he is greeting Rob.

They are just all so adorable! We loved hanging out with them for a little while & were quite sad to leave them!

Giraffe Park

One of my favourite things from Kenya was going to the giraffe park & getting to feed the giraffes. That was pretty cool!

Elephant Orphanage

On our last day in Kenya we visited the Elephant Orphanage, where they have about 12 baby elephants. They are so cute!

After they took the elephants away, they brought out this baby rhino. He was only 3 weeks old & was just the cutest thing!

The Playground

Here is the playground we built at Lifespring Church in Kenya. We are really happy with how it has turned out. It took a week longer than we thought it would, but that's ok, cause it has turned out really well & we have heard that the church are really enjoying it & looking at ways to use it to reach out to their community. They are considering building a little resturaunt so the parents have somewhere to hang out while the children play & are thinking about some other little projects as well. So hopefully the church & its surrounding community can really be blessed by this playground.
